Welcome to the Tacoma chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, or PFLAG.
PFLAG is a volunteer organization with locations throughout the USA and other parts of the world.  We promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning persons, their families and friends.

Current events:
  1.  Help Defeat Referendum 71.  On May 18, Governor Gregoire signed Senate Bill 5688, the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009, a law ensuring that all Washington families are treated the same, with the same protections, the same rights and the same obligations as their neighbors.  Under this law, registered domestic partners (same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples where one partner is at least 62 years of age) and married couples are treated equally under state law.  Before the Governor had even signed the law, a number of very conservative groups filed a referendum - Referendum 71 - to try to repeal the law.  They have until July 25 to collect 120,577 signatures to get it on the ballot.  These groups have a history of trying to overturn laws intended to ensure all Washingtonians are treated fairly and equally.  Visit the Washington Families Standing Together (WAFST) website to see what you can do to help defeat this discriminatory Referendum.
  2.  Out in the Park 2009 will be July 11 from noon to 7 pm at Wright Park in Tacoma.  More info here.
  3.  Want to join a book group that focuses on transgender issues?   Contact Cheryl for the meeting location and find further information here.
